School Policies
Last Updated: July 2025
At Stemlar Academy, we are committed to maintaining a respectful, supportive, and high-quality learning environment. The following school policies outline our expectations for students and families to ensure success and well-being in both academic and community life.
1. Attendance and Participation
Regular engagement is essential to student success. Students are expected to:
-
Log into the learning platform (e.g., LearnWorlds) and complete course activities consistently
-
Meet assignment deadlines unless accommodations are arranged in advance
-
Participate in scheduled live sessions (if applicable) or respond to communication from instructors within a reasonable time frame
-
Notify the school in advance if an absence or delay is expected
Excessive absences or lack of participation may lead to academic intervention or removal from a course.
2. Academic Integrity
We take academic honesty seriously. Plagiarism, cheating, and submitting work that is not your own may result in:
-
A grade of zero on the assignment
-
A warning or formal notice
-
Removal from the course in serious or repeated cases
Students must properly cite all sources and complete assessments independently unless group work is authorized.
3. Code of Conduct
Stemlar students are expected to demonstrate:
-
Respect for peers, educators, and staff
-
Kind and inclusive communication, both online and in person
-
Accountability for one’s work, behavior, and learning
-
Digital citizenship in all forms of school-related interaction
Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or harmful behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in immediate disciplinary action.
4. Assessment and Evaluation
Student performance is evaluated according to the Ontario curriculum and ministry guidelines. Assessments may include:
-
Quizzes, tests, and exams
-
Written assignments and essays
-
Presentations or projects
-
Participation and learning reflections
Final marks are based on 70% term work and 30% final evaluations (exam, project, or presentation, depending on the course). Detailed rubrics and expectations will be shared with students in each course.
5. Submission and Late Work Policy
Assignments must be submitted by the posted deadlines. If you require an extension, please contact your instructor before the due date. Late submissions without communication may receive deductions or a grade of zero.
Accommodations may be granted for illness, family emergencies, or other valid reasons.
6. Technical Requirements
To fully access our online courses, students are responsible for having:
-
A stable internet connection
-
A desktop or laptop (mobile phones are not recommended for course completion)
-
A webcam and microphone for live sessions or oral tasks
-

Expect a response within 48 hours (excluding weekends or holidays)

8. Course Withdrawal and Refunds
Students may withdraw from a course by contacting the administration. Refunds are subject to the terms outlined at checkout and may depend on how far the student has progressed in the course. No refunds will be issued after the mid-point of a course.
9. Privacy and Records
Student information is protected under our Privacy Policy. We follow all provincial regulations for academic records, including secure transcript storage and access.
10. Final Exams and Proctoring
Final evaluations may be written online with identity verification or in person (where applicable). Instructions will be provided in advance, and students must follow all exam integrity policies.
11. Accommodations and Accessibility
We support all learners. If you require accommodations due to an IEP, diagnosed learning need, or temporary condition, please contact us at hello@stemlar.com at the time of registration or as soon as the need arises.
